Give It Time
“If we really want prayer, we’ll have to give it time. We must slow down to a human tempo and we’ll begin to have time to listen. And as soon as we listen to what’s going on, things will begin to take shape by themselves. The whole thing boils down to giving ourselves in prayer a chance to realize that we have what we seek. We don’t have to rush after it. It is there all the time, and if we give it time it will make itself known to us. In prayer we discover what we already have. You start where you are, you deepen what you already have and you realize that you are are already there. We already have everything ,be we don’t know it, and we don’t experience it. All we need is to experience what we already possess.” – Thomas Merton
Nehemiah’s Corner Prayer Opportunities
A group of people gather together to pray on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. in room 172 and on Thursdays at 7 p.m. in the Spirit Cafe. Each week, we try to learn a little more about the mystery that surrounds prayer. Please answer this invitation – come and join us as we grow in our experience of prayer. If you want to know more, please contact Jill MacKenzie at 717-653-6913 or email her.
ACTS
ACTS is a helpful acronym to guide our prayer and to keep us from focusing on only one aspect of prayer. Since we all have a tendency to focus on what we want from God.
A – Adoration. Praise God for who God is and all God has created.
C – Confession. Confess your sins and ask for forgiveness.
T – Thanksgiving. Thank God for the gift of His son, Jesus, and the gift of life eternal.
S – Supplication. Make your requests and petitions known
