We believe that God is actively involved in each person’s journey, from before the first step is even taken to long past one’s last breath. Hempfield United Methodist Church is a group of people striving to discover God at work, in the midst of joy and heartache, pleasure and pain, success and failure. The people of HUMC attempt to display God’s grace, by the way we live and love.
It is the very grace that Jesus revealed in and through his life, death and resurrection that restores lives, relationships, hope and peace. We are not a people of perfection, but rather people learning that it is through our imperfections God does the most amazing things. As you explore our website, it is our hope that you will see beyond the tangibles into the reality of God’s healing grace which is for all, regardless of who we are, where we are, what we have done or what we are currently doing. We believe that within each journey there is purpose and meaning.
Our Heritage: Our history shapes us – good and bad. Understanding our heritage is critical in learning who we are and where God wants to take us, both individually and collectively. As a church, we embrace the essentials of the Christian faith (best outlined in the Apostles and Nicene Creeds), and respect the diversity of views created over 2000 years on what are considered the non-essentials (the interpretations and applications of the essentials).
We are part of the United Methodist tradition as an expression of this faith; a diverse tradition that has thrived for over 250 years.
